FURIOUS users have vowed to fight a shock Newham Council decision to close an historic sauna in Stratford. The move to shut the Atherton Leisure Centre vapour suite in Romford Road follows months of uncertainty after the centre was closed in January following an asbestos scare.

While three weddings were being celebrated at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center Saturday night, a fire broke out in the sauna area near the rear of the facility, forcing a temporary evacuation while firefighters spent several hours making sure the fire was completely extinguished. read more
